General information about DRS:

Deposit return systems are an effective solution to increase beverage container recycling rates and reduce environmental impact and littering.

Under a DRS scheme, consumers pay a small deposit when they buy beverages, which is refunded when they hand in an empty bottle or can. The introduction of such a scheme encourages consumers to recycle more beverage packaging.

DRS promotes a circular economy by keeping materials in circulation and out of landfill.
